PREREQUISITES: Attendees must have a copy of Solidworks

ADMISSION

The main goal of this class is to familiarize you with the basic role of mechanical design in the broader context of engineering and manufacturing. We will use Solidworks for this class and you will be responsible for having your own licensed copy on your laptop before attending the class.

You will develop a basic understanding of what's required to take a concept through to manufacturing: concept design, material selection, plating, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, inspection. You will learn how to create a 3D model, how to assemble a collection of parts models into an assembly, how to create a drawing of a part or assembly, and how to read a drawing.
