ADMISSION

This class is part of a weekly series of 4 classes.  The classes are pay-as-you-go.  This is an introductory class for beginners; we will not cover advanced modeling techniques.  We plan to have an advanced course in the near future.

Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is the first step in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining.  With it, you can model designs of nearly arbitrary complexity, generate toolpaths for them, and prepare machine code to send to a CNC Mill, lathe, or other tool.

In this class, you will design a model part and generate toolpaths for a CNC mill (we will not actually machine the part).  This class is great preparation for our Winter CNC Mill class offering, in which we use Fusion 360 to model a different part and machine it on our Novakon CNC mill.No former experience with CAD/CAM is required; please download Fusion 360 Personal and have it running on your Windows PC (required) before the class: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal

As part of the process, you will be required to make an account with Autodesk, the parent company of Fusion 360, in order to use the free product. Please reach out in advance if you have issues installing it, as we want to use the class time to explore the software.
