Fairy Wings! 1 of 2 - Laser Cut Wings

This first class one will focus on using the laser cutter to cut out complicated shapes for fairy wing designs. We will go over how to properly turn on and use the laser, how to adjust the bed, change the origin etc, how to use light burn, bring in vector files, modify shapes, troubleshoot both software and laser issues, go over appropriate and prohibited materials. We will briefly go over various programs and ways to create fairy wing shapes. Fairy wing patterns will be provided with errors to challenge students retention of the knowledge gained. 

Students will walk away with basic knowledge of how to use the laser cutter and lightburn, and counts as an "Intro to the laser cutter" class. Members may use this as their intro class and come in during staffed hours to finalize their certification on the laser. Members will need to demonstrate retention of the class principles, proficiency with the laser and computer, and safety precautions to gain final certification.

We will end class by putting our fairy wings on frameworks so that they can have either straps or be fit into a corset.
