Holiday Lighting with Arduino and Neopixels
Are you someone who is interested in programming LEDs for cosplay, stage lighting, or Halloween decorations? Maybe you attended an Arduino session at Xerocraft, but were hoping for a little less Ohm’s Law and more fun playing with lights. If so, then you’ve come to the right place! This session will focus exlusively on how to use an Arduino Uno for lighting. In this session, we’ll go over the basics of how to use an Arduino Uno; how to use an Arduino to blink a single LED; how to control multicolor LEDs using the FastLED library; and how to hack existing libraries to create your own lighting effects.
The instructor will bring examples of programmable LED projects and then teach you how to program an 8X8 Neopixel matrix. A preview is available here:
At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to purchase some or all of the hardware you were trained on for your own projects.
No prior experience in electronics is needed, but we do ask you bring your own laptop with the Arduino IDE installed. The software is available for free at this URL: https://www.arduino.cc/en/software).
Note that class size is limited to eight to ensure students get proper attention so reserve your seat today!
We will be meeting in the main classroom
