We are happy to inform you that a Lathe machining class will happen on October 17th at 7pm! You need this class to be allowed to use the Lathe without supervision. It is a basic introductory level class. After the class you will be able to safely operate the lathe and do very basic metal machining. If you have experience and feel you are already competent you still need this class but will be afforded the chance to test out. Attendees receive a "user permit".

If you don't get a reservation for this session you will be happy to know that there will be machining classes on a every two weeks schedule, alternating between the mill and the lathe. You shouldn't have too much trouble getting in fairly soon!

The class is strictly limited to 3 people. We do this so each attendee has a maximum opportunity at hands-on time. The class is listed on Eventbrite (lathemachining.eventbrite.com).

To attend this class you must wear the following clothing:
1) closed-toed shoes or boots.
2) Safety glasses (available at Xerocraft at no cost.
3) Long hair must be restrained by a hat/device/tucked into shirt (hair getting caught by moving machinery is possible and very dangerous!)
You must not wear the following:
1) loose or baggy clothing (again, caught by machine!)
2) aprons

If you have any questions about the class you can email them to volunteer@xerocraft.org

Come learn and enjoy the fun that machining metal brings to your personal creative resume!
