The xTool F2 Ultra is a powerful, professional-grade dual-laser engraver and cutter, featuring both a 60W MOPA* fiber laser for high-precision metal engraving, including color marking, and a 40W diode laser for organic materials like wood and acrylic.
It boasts a large 8.6"×8.6" workspace, and uses dual 48MP cameras with AI-driven software for precise material alignment and an automated workflow. Its design includes a fully enclosed structure for safety, higher processing speeds, and the ability to handle a wide range of materials, from thin metals to thicker non-metals

*About MOPA Lasers: A MOPA fiber laser is an advanced fiber laser that uses a "Master Oscillator Power Amplifier" (MOPA) system to generate its laser beam, providing greater control over pulse characteristics like duration and frequency. This variable pulse control allows for highly precise, high-contrast markings on various materials, including deep black markings on anodized aluminum and colored markings on stainless steel. Unlike standard fiber lasers, MOPA technology enables finer adjustments for marking sensitive materials like plastics without causing foaming or damage.
This document outlines the basic operations for the F2 Ultra at Xerocraft. Note that is it not comprehensive, but should help you get started. It will be periodically updated as new discoveries are made.

The xTool Studio software (formerly called XCS) is the only supported application to control the F2 Ultra. Lightburn cannot drive this laser, although you may choose to design in Lightburn and export your art as an SVG file to be imported into xTool Studio.
You can download the xTool Studio software for free from their site.
A fiber laser is not a replacement for our Co2 machines like Blue, Red and Monty. It's a different tool with different capabilities. In time, we will learn more about the best materials and processes to use with this machine.
In addition, where a Co2 laser typically adjusts speed and power level, a MOPA fiber laser has several additional parameters like Dot Duration, Pulse Width and Frequency. This adds considerable complexity to the operations so well-informed users will have the most success using the machine.

While the laser team defines a broader certification program for the F2 Ultra, we will be using the "buddy system" a member looking to use the machine will work with an xTool trained staffer. Check the staffing calendar to set up time with a laser staffer to learn or use the tool. In addition, we will schedule periodic orientation sessions and classes to help members learn how to use the machine.
If you are a non-member looking for testing or more education about xTool machines, you can book time with one of our experts via the xTool Squad program at this link: https://support.xtool.com/demo-room/host-instruction?id=667
