The Fletcher Capstan Table

10% complete

The Fletcher Capstan table is a $50,000 table manufactured by theFletcher Burwell-Taylor Company. The table's main function is to expand from a small diameter circular table, into a much larger diameter circular table simply by rotating it. All the leaves are contained in the unit, so there are no loose or separate parts.
You can watch a video of the table here:

As you can imagine..... I want to make this! Unfortunately there are some key components to the table mechanism that the company won't share with anyone. They're the only companies that make this table.
However, I've put together a design in solidworks that functions correctly, and I soon plan to start my journey into the construction! I don't expect it to be easy, or cheap. But if all goes well, I will be the proud owner of one of the coolest tables in existence!!

Haven't been able to work on this very much due to life being very transitional for me right now. BUT, There's been a huge development in the story!
The design I have is rough... the major parts are laid out and designed, but none of the details were hashed out yet. That's mostly because it's nearly impossible to know the details until I start building it and figuring them out as I go. But now, a fellow Xeocraft member (Steve) shared a link he found with me to someone who made it on hack-a-day by building this exact table. Not only that, but he made his plans available online! They're 35 pages long, with all the details and tips laid out clearly. This project just got 1000x easier.

I'll be starting soon!
