Building in 'paper adobe,' straw bale, and concrete

10% complete

I helped to:

1. Build two small domes of "paper adobe" (with newsprint as the fiber) in Cochise County. One received an occupancy permit and was used as a residence for a solid 3-year period; the owner lived in it for almost 1200 days without interruption. The other dome was for storage.

In the cover photo I'm standing next to the storage dome. The other dome was nicer and featured sculpted rain gutters that I made.

Each dome had windows made from glass bottles. They were like stained glass portholes. (To use bottles as windows, be sure to point the open neck inward!)

2. Mix, pour, and finish concrete for a sidewalk

3. Mud-plaster walls of two straw bale houses.

I have more photos I can share if you're interested. Some of them are here.
