Free parking on the east side of N 9th Ave

Our parking has changed! Heavy construction!

This page is updated regularly. Share the link with friends: xerocraft.org/parking

There is still FREE PARKING on the east side of N 9th Ave, which is the road east of our building at 101 W 6th St

Many changes to our parking have taken place in the past year. Here's a quick list and some important reminders:

  • The Franklin Docks lot no longer offers any free parking to Xerocraft or Steinfeld Warehouse visitors! Before 5pm on weekdays, it is permit parking only. After 5pm and all-day on the weekends, a $3 parking fee is required. For more information about paid parking at the Franklin Docks, click here.
  • The gated parking lot directly south of the Steinfeld Warehouse is restricted to employees and customers of Ace of Escape only! Unauthorized vehicles may be locked-in and towed away at the owner's expense! Consult the map below. Any area colored red is restricted parking.
  • Parking north of the fire hydrant: Though the city is not strictly enforcing the parking as outlined in the map below during daytime hours, we recommend that you park only in the green area along N 9th ave, south of the fire hydrant. If that area becomes full, attendees have been parking north of the fire hydrant without incident yet. However, we cannot guarantee Park Tucson won't suddenly start issuing tickets without notice. We recommend that you do not park north of the hydrant overnight. An artist in our building recently got a warning from parking enforcement for parking there late at night.

FREE PARKING is allowed on the newly compacted area on the east side of N 9th Ave (the street east of our building) and south of the fire hydrant. See the map below. Please do not park in the parallel parking areas! You will block two-way traffic, which is reduced to one lane. Our loading dock may still be used for loading and unloading but parking must be temporary.

There is HEAVY road construction around us on all sides. Click here for more information and traffic maps.

Other Free Parking Areas

There are some temporary parking options

There are several areas close to Xerocraft you can attempt to park in for free. But if you park here, we recommend you keep it brief.

  1. The back yard of the Steinfeld Warehouse. This area can fit 4 to 6 cars at a time. But you may be asked to move by other people using the area. The back yard is only accessible by turning north onto Perry Ave from N Church Ave. The back yard gate may be locked depending on when you arrive. If you can't find anyone who knows the lock combination, you will not be able to park there. Update 2022-12-28: The back yard is undergoing massive renovation and parking there may be restricted or prohibited.
  2. Parking in the dirt lot west of Perry Ave. The dirt lot is not owned by us and is an active construction area. Construction vehicles and heavy materials move through there often. Park there at your own risk. It is not recommended you park there during weekday business hours. Please park north of the tree. Please do not block our dumpster.

There's free 24-hour parking in the Dunbar Spring neighborhood north of us, but it's a 7-15 minute walk. With all pedestrian, bike, and vehicle travel currently blocked along the former W 6th St from Church Ave to Stone Ave, foot traffic from Dunbar Spring to Xerocraft is restricted on the west side all the way to N Granada Ave.

We recommend you park as far east in Dunbar as you can, then head east until you reach Stone Ave. Then turn right and head south on Stone Ave and take the pedestrian path through the railroad underpass. Then turn right onto Franklin and head west until you reach 9th Ave. Turn right and Xerocraft is in the red brick building at the north end of 9th Ave on the left side.

Paid Parking at the Franklin Docks

Zone #52011

New Flat Rate Fee: The Franklin Parking Lot costs $3 to park in the evenings after 5:00 PM and on weekends.

Weekend Parking: There is a $3 flat fee for anyone to park in this lot on the weekends.

How to Pay: Payment must be made via the GoTucson Parking app for Android or iPhone. Download the app to your mobile device, enter the Franklin Lot's zone number (52011), your license plate number, and credit card info, then pay.

Permit Parking: Permit parking is available upon approval by Park Tucson. To apply for a permit to the Franklin Docks, click here and then click "Apply for a Monthly Parking Permit Online" at the bottom of the page. Monthly permits for the Franklin Docks lot cost $46.13 after tax. Permit parking will continue during the weekdays. Moreover, at 5:00 PM and thereafter, permit-holders can park without paying the $3 fee if their permit is displayed.

Enforcement: Park Tucson was initially enforcing these changes with warnings but they may now be issuing citations. Signs at the Franklin Docks explaining the change are in place.

Arts District Parking Lot: Park Tucson has also updated the parking signs at this lot located at 119 E. Toole (just east of Borderlands). It's a small lot with some weekday permit-holders. Like the Franklin Lot, a $3 flat fee will be charged after 5:00 PM and on weekends via the GoTucson Parking app (zone number 5206). Preliminary enforcement via warnings will also apply.

Please direct any questions to Park Tucson at ParkTucson@tucsonaz.gov or (520) 791-5071.
