Xerocraft Board of Directors
Monthly Meeting
Sunday, December 8, 2024 in person at Xerocraft
Meeting called to order at 1:00pm
In attendance: Mike Runde, Dusty Reyes, Don Cue, Geoff Shafer, Lisa Grenier, Ben Winkler, Bob Foster Guest: Jeremy Briddle
- Approve meeting minutes from November 17 meeting– unanimous approval of Board meeting minutes and Executive Meeting minutes with same vote
- President’s Report by Dusty
- Plan to go ahead with the end of year party. Dusty will send email to gauge attendance, possibly up to 30. Geoff will order food.
- David Nordahl, the visitor from the last Board meeting, is interested in joining the Board. He has technical writing experience and could be a possible grant writer. Dusty will send an invite to him to join.
- Board has an offer for KKMR from Byron. Julie is still trying to put an offer together. Motion by Ben, 2nd by Bob that Board is considering an offer from Julie. Unanimous NO vote. Mike will let Julie know that we are not considering her offer. Mike will open negotiations with Byron.
- Treasurer’s Report by Ben
- Accounts are good, memberships and classes are up. Better numbers than last year at this time.
- Several donors have requested a written receipt. John currently has a form that should suffice.
- We should consider adding another signer to the bank account.
- Mike will call the credit union to ask about Zelle.
- Membership Report
- Some members need refunds. Ben will handle this. Possibly report a web problem to Kyle.
- Secretary Report by Mike

- Operations Report by Mike
- New lathe that Geoff bought at auction in Phoenix has been moved in and installed. Geoff is working on powering the unit.
- Mike suggests that we consider updating and upgrading our electrical system in 2025. Possibly do this in phases so as not to overspend.
- Geoff suggests that we may have to spend more money on our air compressor. It is starting to act up.
- Mike is gonna try to get more outdoor storage from WAMO under the South Sheds. It may take a while for this to happen because space needs improvement.
- Staff will put up yellow nylon rope or chains for Repair Cafe on 2nd Saturday to keep the public out of the shops.
- Mike is also going to ask WAMO the status of the lighted sign over the front door.
- Programming Report by Geoff
- Urban Homesteading may be coming back in February.
- Blacksmithing is trying to find more monitors. That will allow for more open forge time.
- Metal Casting is still tabled.
- Public Relations
- Lisa and Camille are working on a database of storytelling media. This storytelling would be used to help bring in customers. Dusty will meet to compile these stories. She will need help with this.
- Fundraising by Dusty
- No new updates.
- Heather might help send out hand written notes.
- New Business
- Jeremy will confirm that Torrents have been blocked.
- Don reminded us that Xerocraft costs about $274/day, based on current numbers.
Next meeting is the 3rd Sunday in January. Jan. 19, 2025, 1 pm at Xerocraft.
