Xerocraft Board of Directors

Monthly  Meeting

Sunday, February 16, 2025  in person at Xerocraft

Meeting called to order at 1:03pm

In attendance:  Mike Runde, Dusty Reyes, Geoff Shafer, Ben Winkler, Bob Foster  Guest: Jeremy Briddle and David Nordahl

  • Approve meeting minutes from Jan 19, 2025 meeting– unanimous approval 
  • President’s Report by Dusty
  • Board elections are coming up. Ben and Geoff are up for re-election. David will be appointed to the roster. 
  • Annual Meeting will be at 1pm on Saturday, April 19. There will be food just like last year. Members are welcome to attend and ask questions. 
  • Dusty will bring proposals for the next meeting concerning Jeremy’s contract renewal and other things.
  • Treasurer’s Report by Ben
  • Taxes have been completed and 1099’s filed.
  • New grant for $4,200 through Commission on the Arts has been received.
  • XC has put $25K in 2 CD’s for 6 months and 1 year earning higher interest.
  • Tool sales and classes are up.
  • Membership Report
  • Nothing to report
  • Secretary Report by Mike
  • Insurance has been invoiced and paid
  • WAMO has their annual fundraiser coming up, April 26. They would like XC to build a basket for the raffle.  Last year’s basket netted about $240.
  • KMKR is up and running with a new playlist, 80’s and 90’s Rock.  They are looking into getting their own website. It currently runs inside xerocraft.org.
  • Credit Union is working to receive Zelle payments.  Should be happening in the next 60 days or so.  It will be only for incoming, not outgoing money.
  • Operations Report by Mike
  • Mike is getting bids to upgrade the electrical system inside XC. Seeing bids ranging from $9,000 to $28,000, depending on the scope of work. Mike will continue to work this and update next month.
  • Benevity form has been updated.  We received a $100 donation from someone.
  •  There has been an issue with COT trash and recycle pickup.  This is included in the water bill. XC doesn’t pay the water bill. Mike to investigate and have more info next month.
  • There is an EPA Grant available. Mike to find more info.
  • Jeremy wants to update the camera system inside and outside XC. Preference is to be wired, instead of wireless. Tabled until we get more info.
  • Programming Report by Geoff
  • New large metal lathe is functional.  Classes will start soon.
  • XC is considering accepting “for income” projects. They would be logged as a donation to XC
  • Welding and Blacksmithing are filling up. We want to raise the price by $5 each class.
  • Open Forge is now open each weekend. 
  • Still working on a MetalCasting class and possible woodshop class, but the wood shop is always busy. 
  • There is interest in another welding Fab Class, but we need another welding instructor.
  • Public Relations Report by Dusty
  • Camille is working on “story telling”.  Trying to get a PSA on TV.
  • Looking at having booths at different festivals around Tucson.
  • Fundraising 
  • David is working on a Creative Capacity Grant.  He took a course and notes are uploaded to Google Drive.
  • David is also populating a spreadsheet with grant leads.
  • Old Business
  • Board approved Don’s proposal from a previous meeting about donations.
  • Pat needs more volunteers in the Jewelry Shop.
