We hope this tube will last longer with power monitoring
Bed has not been leveled yet. Front right corner is a click lower. Shim it?
Jeremy noted the strong odor and was concerned about fumes. We need to seal leaks and possibly reduce the air assist.
Adrian: Previous tube could’ve been part of the problem.
Automating the blower fans?
Adrian has the controller built already.
Vegetable-dyed leather in the laser cutters only! Chromium dust is dangerous.
Don is trying to get more people signed up for the laser cutter email list.
Don C: The VCarve license in the CNC Shop
Our VCarve license will soon expire. It’s about $100. It’s an essential license for makerspaces.

CNC Dept is looking for a new Shop Manager.

Tom W: CNC mill class survey
Tom has gotten the CNC metal mill working and now he needs to get people familiarized with it. It’s a major step up from the Bridgeport and CNC router. Likely only a small group will use it at first due to requirements.
Tom is looking for interested people and putting on a class.
Tom wants to put out a survey to gauge interest to get a class going.
CAD and running the mill are too big to be one class. Two separate subjects!
Jeremy: Basics of the operation of the mill class with simple items cut.
Alexis: You can buy small items to be CNC milled.
Ed S: Our liability insurance coverage and sharing coverage information with members and attendees
Don: We should make staffers aware of our excellent liability insurance and train them to offer an email address to seek more information.
Jeremy will add that to staffing manual
Bob F: Developing a formal policy for staffing Open Hacks
Part of the policy is shutting down depts when there’s no staffer in a dept during open hack.
Also Shop Managers don’t want people in off the street coming in and using their tools.
Don: We need a subcommittee. What’s most important when staffing open hacks? Trained staffers. Barriers to getting trained staffers?
Subcmte: Alexis, Don, Jeremy, input from Bob
Subcmte will try to have something by next SCM.
Bob F: Charging for sandpaper and sanding discs
Bob found a box of a lot of sandpaper from Guy in a box.
Guy’s idea was to sell it.
Bob F: Notifying people when machines are down
Miter saw is down while we wait for a bearing
Bob put all the Wood Shop machines’ status on the website.
Jeremy will look into it and get back to Bob.
Steve W: Disposal of CRT monitors
Steve takes responsibility for disposal of the CRT monitors. He’s looking for suggestions.
Adrian: Check out Elliot Surplus Supply. Suburban Miners will recycle for $20/CRT
Mike might be able to dispose of them.
Steve: CRTs are not on the hazmat list so the county won’t take them.
