Don is making Christmas ornaments on the laser cutter!
Next meeting Dec 4
AZPM is doing a report on us soon. Please try to keep the place clean this week!
Interviews 9am Monday, B-roll recordings on Monday afternoon, Wednesday is interviews and a Jewelry class
Having some people “doing things” would be great
People in every shop?
Nerd Nite tomorrow night! At the Screening Room on Congress. $3 admission. Don will do a 15 minute presentation on his “sunset clock”, which tells you how long it is until sunset.
Patrick C: New CNC plasma cutter update
Crossfire is running really well! Water table keeps the sparks and dust down very well.
Better cable management needed! A cable has been damaged already!
We need to start training, then arranging classes
TechSoup has approved our purchase of Fusion 360
Fusion 360 for CAD is free, CAM (not yet required for Crossfire CNC plasma cutter, required for CNC mill in basement) is paid software
A class is needed for software, another for hardware
Steve W: Dust collector project update
4” PVC tubes purchased. Steve W and David K have been working on it. Tim L, Steve W will work on it tomorrow. Some more parts need to be fabricated. We’re not using the dust collector yet.
This dust collector will eventually service the planer, jointer, and drum sander (a gate on each tool)
3D printing the reducer might not be feasible.
Steve W: Kyler M’s new class
Kyler is a new work-trade staffer in Electronics. He’s been doing one-on-one work with Raspberry Pi Picos. He had an idea to make Christmas ornaments with LEDs that requires some soldering. He’s purchased some kits, Steve volunteered to fund purchase of the parts.
Hoping for Sat, Dec 9. Students take home projects they made that blinks. Signs are available on the Electronics Dept bench.
Steve would like to have the flyers posted around Xerocraft.
Geoff recommends the class happen outside of Open Hack.
Interest in teaching a class goes to Geoff S, then alert Don C to advertise!
