Progress continues. Tom helped make a 6-4” adapter and installed it.
They’re going to wait until there’s a break in tool use to do a temporary test fitting.
Steve W is available most of this week to work on it.
They need to finish the ducts to the planer and jointer, mount the dust deputy to the receptacle, couple the dust deputy to the blower.
We may end up putting the drum sander on a vacuum instead of a dust collector. Jeremy moved an unused Ridgid vac into the Wood Shop for that purpose.
Steve W: Kyler's electronics class Dec 9
Kyler is a staffer in the Electronics Dept. He’s putting on this class once with the option to do more. It’s an LED Christmas ornament the student takes home. One student so far.
Steve wants to repeat the class formula
Kyler wants to do a Raspberry Pi class too. More classes coming soon!
Francisco is interested in helping advertise the Electronics Dept. Don will be away on vacation but Jeremy can assist.
Steve W: donated laptops
18 used Dell laptops donated. Windows 7 and 10. Steve and some volunteers plan to go through them, choose the best ones, and make them available to Xerocraft.
Geoff S: disbanding of the CNC shop and movement of the routers under Wood Shop
Board voted to disband the CNC Dept as a single unit overseen by a dedicated Shop Manager. Wood Shop will oversee wood routers, Welding Dept oversees CNC plasma cutters, Machine Shop oversees CNC mills. We intend to get volunteers to oversee the tools and report to the Shop Managers.
The machines will remain where they currently are.
Geoff S: the machine shop would like to take out its own trash from now on.
We aim to recycle aluminum and nonferrous metals for potential casting. Chips will be stored in a container for eventual casting. Ferrous and nonferrous metals will be kept separate. Non-metals keep getting put in Machine Shop galvanized steel trash can, even though it’s labeled no to.
They also want a plastic trash can kept in the Machine Shop which can accept non-metal trash, which can be emptied by staff.
We also would like the plastic trash can to return so garbage can go there and scrap metal can be kept in the plastic buckets or metal bin.
Don: Communicating this to members will be a problem. Alert staffers!
Geoff: Lid for galvanized can?
Bob F: Signs on lids make it harder to miss.
Jeremy will work on it. Don will send an email to the Discussion List.
