Steve W: Some of his friends reached out to him and said he did a great job and they want to get memberships.
Nov 2nd around 2pm, SoAz Arts Guild: tour! We have a few tour guides, including MJ.
Lisa G, Renee C: announcement to the shop managers and all volunteers (staffing and general) about tours
We’re trying to be more consistent with tours: two Saturdays a month (2nd and 4th) from 1pm to 3pm. However, people may want tours at off hours. Can staffers please give tours to anyone who rings the bell?
Harvey B: Wood Shop currently does that.
Steve W: Electronics offers tours too.
Mark M: Should tour recipients sign liability waivers or sign-in at the kiosk?
Don C: No. Jeremy agrees.
Lisa G hopes to have a half-page flier available soon. QR code included.
John N: Selling radio station
The process for the buyer to create a federal non-profit and and receive the license transfer could take a year or more. In the meantime, K-Maker Radio will remain on the air and will attempt fundraising.
John N, Tom W: New metal lathe
The lathe has not been delivered yet. That should happen next week. It will take some time. It’s very heavy.
Tom thinks that he and Geoff should take their discussion regarding to use offline to work out the details.
Some electrical work will be necessary.
We’re getting tight on breaker space in the electrical panel. We may run both lathes off of one breaker, but only one at a time.
The power switch will be locked.
The old Logan lathe will be kept for teaching.
We also got a vertical metal/wood bandsaw.
John N: Float people in back yard
All Souls Procession may need storage space in the back yard. The classes really will start on Thursday.
Jeremy will talk to WAMO and make an announcement about the new storage policy.
Geoff S was told 3-5 days of storage is ok.
Oct 27th for 4 days. Jeremy will talk to Chris L and get back to Geoff S about it.
No more painting/staining on the back deck!
Jeremy has created a deck painting/staining kit for members to use. The kit consists of a big tarp and bungees to protect the deck. The kit is between the wood shop and the machine shop.
Tom W thinks it’s a mistake to offer suck a kit. It should just be forbidden on the back deck. Harvey agrees.
Harvey recommends a “Paint booth”. Jeremy agrees and has spoken to WAMO about it.
Bob F: Eventually WAMO will rent out the space under the old sheds. We might be able to setup a painting booth there in the meantime.
Matt B: events I would like to facilitate
Matt staffs on Saturdays.
He’d like to do some events for members to come do for free. Also community-wide events. He has a list of events he feels comfortable hosting and classes he can teach. He does food-related, biohacking aquaponics, raising chickens, game nights, etc.
Geoff S is our Classes Coordinator.
Lisa feels some of this could fit with Crafts. She loves the idea of game night.
Don is concerned about any biohacking that involves injections.
Matt would not be doing such activity there. He would be teaching about the process.
Geoff S and Lisa G would like to talk more with Matt B.
MJ W: We cannot process chickens or any animals in Xerocraft.
Geoff S: There will be no animal processing at XC. Workshop discussion only
Matt B: issues with the website
There are open hacks listed on the website.
Student membership form page is unclear.
Matt B: making xerocraft more inclusive to our member community and wider community
Matt B felt his questions were addressed while discussing item #5.
Don C: New Social Media volunteer
Camille H is Don’s new volunteer. She’ll be helping with social media and Facebook. She’s also a professional photographer. She does social media professionally.
Harvey B: Two new Wood Shop work-traders
Geoff B and Skip B. Both are well-seasoned woodworkers. Geoff might help with PR as well.
Harvey would like to see more staffers, particularly in other shops. Access for certain shops can be tight.
Lisa G would particularly like to see more staffing on weekends.
