Matt B: There’s now a maximum of four visitors allowed at a time in the Wood Shop during a tour.
Duane E: a conversation about a solar financing strategy proposal
WAMO’s grant application for solar panels was not accepted before the grant ran out of money. We’re hoping for a future round of grants.
Estimation is $168k for solar panels for the whole building.
Duane E: Five year membership option or auction (including artists’ works, crafts, volunteers to build items for people, personal and corporate donations.
Aamir Q: Merchandise made at Xerocraft, stickers. Tool bags, calipers.
Don C: We’re for it, but maintaining it and oversight is difficult.
Patrick C: an update on the demo that happened and future plans for demos
Recent blacksmithing demo from David Goodman from Iron Rhino Forge. He also donated us a forge. They’re discussing another in mid-February that’s more advanced. Possibly forge welding.
Patrick C: possible collaboration with AABA for till making and donations for Xerocraft
Patrick spoke to Sam at Winter Forge and AABA and they want to put on a day where they build hand tools for Xerocraft (punch, chisels, drifts, etc). It’s held off-site at Brandy Fenton Park on River Rd.
Don C: Front desk clutter. Flyers and stuff.
Lots of flyers and business cards at the front desk all of a sudden!
We have bulletin boards already. All the flyers and cards are taking up too much space.
Matt B: Most of them can move to the bulletin boards
Duane can put up a sign warning people not to leave flyers
Jeremy will work on “Notes to Jeremy” box, in basket
Aamir: Add holders to steel side of staircase
Tom W: New Machine Shop Manager role
Bryant has decided to resign as the summer Machine Shop Manager. Tom has found Dale B, who will fill in for the summers. Daniel T has offered to teach the Bridgeport mill class. Bryant is remaining a member.
Dale has an engineering background and has used the Machine Shop tools before.
Aamir/Adrian: Filament donated
We were donated 10 rolls of PLA filament. Adrian has looked at it and approved it for our use. They’ll keep a close eye on it. It appears to be good enough. However, Adrian does not want people bringing in their own filament without going through him first.
Aamir: UA uses PolyMaker.
Adrian: We go through 20 rolls every 6 to 8 weeks.
