Cody: This Is Tucson and AZDS did a piece on him. They also want to do a piece on Xerocraft. They were very interested in us.
Don will speak with Cody about it.
Bob F: Commercial use of the woodshop
We had an issue regarding a contractor who used two tools at once for an extended time.
We tend to allow members to use the tools for small runs of items. But this member monopolized two wood shop tools for an entire day.
Harvey: We don’t want to discourage small businesses. However, contractors monopolizing tools is too far. Members in other shops like the laser cutter have to share. We need to provide some guidelines (e.g. max board feeds run through the planer or jointer). We’re not designed for commercial use.
Cody: We need to establish a threshold/scope for tool overuse. Is there a punishment? A fee?
Cody: Add do’s and dont’s to member intro email
John: All large jobs at Xerocraft are a concern, not just commercial jobs.
Bob: most members work on small projects while these members are paid employees/ contractors. The Wood Shop is extremely busy as it is.
Adrian: Members must re-certify after 30 days or lapsed membership.
Adrian: Jointer and planer motors cannot be run non-stop. They should be run in 30-minute intervals.
Bob: The planer is new and they are wearing it out.
It’s hard to handle 10ft boards in the Wood Shop.
Jeremy will talk to Bob and Harvey.
Don: Should the one-month non-recurring membership cost more than $5? $75?
John N: Equipment donations
John needs help selling donated items. We need someone in charge with access to the volunteer list.
Jeremy will talk to John about creating a position.
Harvey B: Laser cutter alignment and maintenance
Harvey met a new member who knows a lot about laser cutters. He said he can show us how to align the laser cutters very quickly (15-20 minutes).
Don is aware of them and will talk with them further.
